Life / Boats

In the final hours of this book thing, having a bit of sweet nostalgia for these two chumps:

Jesse Martin, who’s own books and teenage lunacy, was an early inspiration for this whole endeavor, and Nick Jaffe, the legend, the gentleman, who’s been a lifeboat upon which I’ve hurled myself often over the years. Got to hang with these two beautiful dudes in real life a few months ago out in Oz. Here we are on a fancy old steamship (looking terribly out of place).

Friends are the ones who buoy you through your days. These are two of the ones whose support and encouragement have kept me afloat for years now. Of course you can do it. Of course you can.

Thanks to them, and to all 96 of you kind souls who’ve jumped on board to make this happen. The last couple days have been the strongest of the whole shebang: we are now sitting at 74% funded! Who would have thought?

So, these are the final days, folks. Just 51 hours to go. Please, please keep spreading the word, far and wide. It is indeed working!

So much love,
Emily

I’m still at sea.

This post is from my first voyage, sailing alone around the world from 2009 to 2015. These days I live aboard El Dorado in France and send dispatches from the boat.

Get the dispatches on Substack →

Or get real mail from the boat: the Foreign Correspondence Club.
