Hiiiii Guuuys! Huge apologies for the lack of updates. With all the rain the communications gear has gone a bit haywire again. Getting it sorted it out though…. The last couple weeks have been truly amazing! The run down Costa Rica has seen stops in a lot of neat, off the beaten path places which I’ll detail here in just a bit, but first just wanted to do a quick posting which will be the first in what will come to serve as a weekly wrap up on here. It’s not always easy to find the time i want to relay the goings-on of the good ship BOBBIE but I want to start getting a bit more organized, and making it a bit eaier to keep some sort of schedule on here. So without further ado here is the first of the weekly installments:
Present location: Golfito / COSTA RICA.
Distance Traveled this Week: 232 nm. Favorite Spot: Bahia Santa Elena. Truly Darwin-esque experience wondering the woods round this isolated bay. Monkeys howling just shoreside, snorkeling tooth rock, sea snakes slippingh through the still water…and not a soul around. Probably one of the raddest places I’ve ever been…
Listening to: The Hermann Scheer episode (10/15) of Democracy Now, over and over….go here, feed your brain.
Reading: Excerpts from Beryl Markham’s WEST WITH THE NIGHT:
“It is absurd for a man to kill an elephant. It is not brutal, it is not heroic, and certainly it is not easy; it is just one of those things that men do like putting a dam across a great river, one tenth of whose volume could engulf the whole of mankind without disturbing the domestic life of a single catfish.”
Next horizon: Punta Bolsa / PANAMA.
I’m still at sea.
This post is from my first voyage, sailing alone around the world from 2009 to 2015. These days I live aboard El Dorado in France and send dispatches from the boat.
